Frostsnap Device - Bitcoin Self Custody with FROST

Frostsnap is a modern alternative to traditional Bitcoin multisig and uses FROST (Flexible Round-Optimized Schnorr Threshold Signatures). A minimum of three Frostsnap devices is required for use. With a 2-of-3 setup, for example, two of the three devices are required to sign a transaction.

During setup, the devices jointly generate a cryptographic key. Each device receives its own key share and its own backup. The complete private key never exists on any single device. This allows the devices to be stored in different locations, providing protection against the loss or theft of individual devices.

Unlike traditional multisig, Frostsnap produces a single Schnorr signature. The threshold configuration is therefore not visible on the Bitcoin blockchain, and the transaction appears like a normal Taproot transaction.
