What is the SEEDOR Safe and what are its advantages?
The SEEDOR Safe allows you to store Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies securely and permanently by storing your recovery seed in solid stainless steel. With the help of the Starter Kit you can discretely and independently of third parties emboss your seed into solid stainless steel plates and then store it securely in the SEEDOR Safe on your own.
What is a Bitcoin Seed Phrase and why do I need to secure it?
Your Bitcoin seed phrase is a sequence of 12 or 24 words that can restore your wallet independently of the device. If you lose it, you lose access to your Bitcoin forever. Secure storage in stainless steel protects against fire, water, and decay.
Why aren't four letters per word enough?
Many metal backups truncate each word to four letters because the BIP39 standard technically allows it. In practice, this leads to confusion and reading errors. Anyone who has to restore their wallet in an emergency should not have to rely on a word like ABAN when the full word ABANDON would be unambiguous.
What happens if the SEEDOR Safe is damaged?
Unlike tile systems, where loose letter tiles can get lost, each disc in SEEDOR remains individually reconstructible. Each disc not only carries the word but also its position as a number. Even after a fire or fall, you can restore the order using the numbers.
What material is the SEEDOR Safe made of?
All elements of the SEEDOR Safe are made from the finest V4A stainless steel (AISI 316L or 1.4404). To prevent contact corrosion, care is taken to ensure that all elements are manufactured with exactly the same alloy.
Which hardware wallets are compatible?
The SEEDOR Safe works with all wallets that follow the BIP39 standard. This includes Ledger Nano, Trezor, BitBox02, Coldcard, Blockstream Jade, Sparrow Wallet, Specter, Electrum, and many more. In addition, we support Shamir Backup SLIP39 and Monero's 25-word seed.
How long does the setup take?
On average 20 minutes for a 12-word seed and 50 minutes for a 24-word seed. You emboss the discs with the supplied letter punches, stack them in the specified order into the capsule, and seal it with the tamper-proof sticker.
What is the best surface to emboss my seed on?
The best embossing results are achieved on a solid, hard surface, such as a workbench, a solid parasol stand, or a stone floor. We advise against embossing on brittle surfaces such as tiles or granite floors.
How is shipping carried out?
We ship all orders within Germany with DHL. For additional anonymity, you can also have your shipment sent to a DHL Packstation.
